Our Mission

Knowledge gives people choices.

Girl Power Garage was founded in 2016 to make automotive knowledge more accessible. We teach people how to care for their vehicles, recognize developing problems, ask informed questions, and approach repairs with greater confidence.

After a pause in programming due to health challenges, founder Christina Short is working to bring the classes and community projects back.

2016

Founded with a simple goal: make automotive education practical, welcoming, and useful in everyday life.

What we do

Learn it. Use it. Share it.

Our returning programs are being planned around hands-on learning, community partnerships, and real-world vehicle needs.

01 / LEARN

Basic Car Care Classes

Learn routine maintenance, warning signs, simple inspections, diagnostics, parts identification, and preventative care.

02 / CONNECT

Community Diagnostic Days

Bring local garages and volunteer mechanics together to help participants understand vehicle problems, research affordable parts, and explore repair options.

03 / BUILD

Community Vehicle Projects

Bring participants together to repair and prepare working vehicles for potential donation to community organizations and people in need.

Vehicle donations

Your unused car could become someone's classroom.

We're seeking donated vehicles, including nonrunning project cars, to help restart hands-on classes.

Depending on condition and program needs, donated vehicles may be used for diagnostics and repair lessons, repaired for community donation, or dismantled so usable parts can support future projects.

Important: Girl Power Garage is not currently representing vehicle donations as tax deductible. Vehicle acceptance, ownership transfer, towing, and any future disposition will be discussed with each donor.

How a vehicle can help

  1. Students learn to assess its condition.
  2. Participants gain hands-on diagnostic and repair experience.
  3. A repaired vehicle may serve a community need.
  4. Reusable parts or sale proceeds can help fund the next project.
